Description
Decorative glass vase from the 19th century with chromo & red blown paint on the inside
Served as a matching support for a blown glass wig ball with chromolithographs fixed under glass on the inside.
Inside the vase, chromolithographs depicting butterflies, a hussar and numerous characters arranged in a frieze, including the Sire de Framboisu and Mme de Framboisy, the Bride and Groom, the goatherer, a gentleman, Don Ricados, and so on. The original Potichomanie technique consisted of cutting out images and sticking them inside a glass ball, then coating the whole with white to give a porcelain effect, or with powder-projected colours in the style of Chinese porcelain. A highly decorative and totally unusual collector's item, ideal for a quality curiosity cabinet! Also, an exceptional collection of around fifteen balls available in references 6745 to 6754!
22.5ht x 12.2D x 8.25D top.
Some minor wear, notably to the chromo near the top edge, obviously not suitable as a vase as it would be unthinkable to put water in it, but rather a very beautiful decorative object.
